Adult Bible Study - Great Adventure Series

Studies Scripture following a structured series of lessons, group discussion and enriching DVD.

Altar Linens Ministry

Launders and irons the altar linens and rotates duties on a weekly basis.

Altar Servers Ministry

Prepares and involves both adults and youth to assist the priest during mass.

Baptism Preparation

Baptismal Stole Ministry

Makes white stoles for Baptisms. Time commitment - As needed.

Bereavement

Offers grief support in the role of discipleship to help those who are mourning.

Bible Study & Faith Sharing (Tues 9:30-11:00am)

Studies Scripture in relation to coming Sunday mass readings while sharing personal faith journey with the group.

Boy Scouts of America

Teaches Scouting values based on character, citizenship, and personal fitness found in the Scout Oath and Law. Meets weekly on Mondays at 7:00 pm

Building & Maintenance Ministry

Provides input and physical participation to maintain a facility that is safe and in good repair

Catholics Returning Home

Offers a safe, loving environment where Catholics who have been away from the church may return to the fullness of the faith.

Children's Faith Formation (Preschool through 6th Grade)

Presents a lectionary-based age-appropriate program teaching our children about Christ's love and gentleness. Preschool is a parent run cooperative.

Choir

Offers adult and children's music groups and a teen ensemble to provide vocal and instrumental musical accompaniment for masses and worship services. Children’s Music Ministry was formed in Fall of 2009 to encourage the participation of children/youth in the Mass. The children in the music ministry range in age from 2nd to 8th grade.

Communications MInistry

Maintains the Divine Savior website so that it is an engaging, up-to-date website with accurate information utilizing state of the art technology.

Cub Scouts of America

Provides beginning Scout activites for boys in grades 1 through 5, focusing on values-based youth development. Pack #310 meets once monthly on 3rd Mondays while dens meet weekly on Mondays.

Environment Ministry

Prepares the church with decorations seasonally, and creates altar floral decorations weekly.

Eucharistic Ministry

Assists in the distribution of the Eucharist at Saturday & Sunday Mass. Time commitment - Two masses per month.

Fund Raising Ministry

This Ministry is only active during a fund drive.

Fundraising: Garage Sale

Collects, stores and prepares salable items for the day of the garage sale held each August.

Fundraising: Crab Feed

Plans and presents the annual crab feed and silent auction held in the Multi-Purpose Bldg.

Funeral Receptions (1st of 3 Steps in the Bereavement Ministry)

Prepares and serves food for families of deceased parishioners and members of the community following the funeral.

Greeter Ministry

Welcomes the parishioners and visitors before each Sunday Liturgy.

Guadalupe Group Ministry

Arranges Hispanic Liturgies and ethnic activities.

Hospitality

Coordinates volunteers to bring cookies and fruit for all Sunday masses.

Jr. CYM (Catholic Youth Ministries--7th & 8th Graders)

Provides a safe place for young people to build relationships and to explore the meaning of being a Christian in the context of their Catholic faith.

Knights of Columbus

Support family, parish and the faith by helping the parish with quick response to many projects. Prayer, encouragement and cooperation unites the Knights as Christian Gentlemen.

Lay Salvatorians (Society of The Divine Savior)

Spreads the good news of the Savior by all ways and means. Thirteen study modules prepare a candidate for full membership as a Salvatorian.

Lectors Ministry

Proclaims the Word of God from Scripture at mass. Time commitment-One Mass/month, or less.

Lent & Advent Study Group

Studies Scripture as married couples, meeting in each others' homes on Thursday evenings during Lent and Advent.

Loaves & Fishes Ministry

Participates in the Loaves and Fishes Meal Program once a month at the center, 1300 North C Street, Sacramento.

Lunch Brunch

Meets once a month for a social lunch. Parish fellowship is the goal.

Manna Ministry

Provides meals to those in emergency need for one time or longer.

Marriage Preparation

Supports engaged couples through classes and mentors to prepare for the sacrament of Marriage.

Ministry to the Homebound

Serves the homebound by bringing Communion and prayer to the infirm at-home and those living in elder care facilities.

Moving on Fellowship (3rd of 3 Steps in grieving process)

Takes up where, after 6 sessions, Bereavement(Grief Support)Ministry leaves off. Offers a casual transitional group setting with real encouragement.

Music Ministry (Saturday 4:30 pm; Sunday 7:45, 9:30 and 11:30 am masses)

Provides music and song for Liturgy. Time commitment - Two times per week, per choir.

Newcomers' Welcoming Ministry

Contacts and welcomes new members to our Divine Savior community and offers friendly support

Peace Prayer Ministry

Actively promotes the desire for peace individually, within the community and worldwide

Photo Directory & History Ministry

Organizes and manages the process of creating a parish photo directory. Also collects historical photos for parish records if requested to do so.

Pledge Drive Ministry (Active only during A Pledge Drive)

Meets with parish members to mutually support a formal pledge campaign to a designated goal. This Ministry is only active during a fund drive.

R.C.I.A. (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults)

Offers instruction and faith sharing for adults interested in becoming members of the Catholic Church as well as Catholics seeking an update in their faith. Inquiry sessions meet between the 9:30 and 11:30am Sunday masses.

Rosary Group Ministry (Thurs. 6:30 - 7:00 pm)

Prays the rosary weekly for the needs of the parish and the community. Thursdays, 6:30pm -7pm.

Rosary Prayer Group (Sunday after 7:45 Mass, approx. 9:00 AM)

Prays the rosary weekly for the community intentions, priestly vocations, souls in Purgatory,and personal intentions. Time: 20 minutes.

Sacrament Preparation - 1st and 2nd Grades

Prepares 1st and 2nd graders for the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Communion.

Sacramento Cursillo in English

Provides a three day learning and sharing experience in living as a Christian in today's world.

Social Justice Ministry

Practices Catholic Social Justice for the poor, the needy, and the oppressed.

Spiritual Enrichment Book Group for Women

Discusses books of spiritual content, sharing insights, learning together.

Sunshine Ministry

Sends out cards of support to those on our Prayer List as well as when our parishioners are known to be sick or in sorrow.

Tai Chi Chih (Joy Through Movement)

Teaches a series of bodily postures and movements that reduce stress and bring harmony to your life.

Tech Team Ministry

Operates the overhead screens and sound system for the church. Time Commitment - One Mass/week.

U.S. Catholic Catechism for Adults

Teaches the Catechism of the Catholic Church in a seminar format to reinforce the ideas and principles that make us Catholic and explains how they came to exist.

Ushers Ministry

Seats the assembly and gathers the Offertory. Time commitment - One Mass/week.

Vocation Ministry

Prays for vocations to the religious life. Sponsors the "traveling" vocation cross within our church community.

Welcoming the Newly Registered

Connects with newly registered parishioners through phone contact, mailed notes, person-to-person meetings, etc. to welcome them into the Divine Savior parish.
